We kept seeing the same gap. So we built the answer.

Strategy, systems, operations and people treated separately, while leadership had to make one joined-up decision. Connecting that work became the company.

Where we came from

Founded on a gap.

Yopla wasn't started to be a consultancy. It was started because the distance between what organisations own and what they actually use kept costing the people we worked with, and nobody was measuring it. Building the answer turned out to be the best work we'd ever done.

Instruments, a workspace, a delivery rhythm

The first company

We built a managed technology and cyber security firm into one of the most respected in Scotland, then sold it to EE’s largest partner in 2021. A decade inside other organisations’ systems taught us one thing above all: the technology was rarely the problem.

The gap

Everywhere we worked, the same distance between what leadership believed and what was actually happening. Capable people, decent tools, real ambition, and decisions made on opinion because nobody had measured the truth.

The build

Spreadsheets and slide decks could not hold an organisation honestly, so we built the platform ourselves. Instruments that measure, a workspace that remembers, and a delivery rhythm that holds.

Connects strategy, sales, and architecture. Ensures the systems we design work commercially, scale cleanly, and hold up under scrutiny.

I started early. As a teenager in Auchencairn, a quiet village on the south west coast of Scotland, I ran a dial-up internet service over a leased line my grandad and I tapped ourselves, then web and email hosting for customers who never knew their provider was still at school. Five ventures followed across internet services, colocation, web design, IT support and cyber security, each one founded, run and exited.

The biggest was the managed technology and cyber security firm Eve and I built into one of Scotland's most reputable, before selling to EE's largest partner in 2021. What made it work was never the technology. It was finding the right goals and the right people, then building the culture that let them get on with it. We did it while raising our daughters, which explains both the missing sleep and most of the joy.

Beyond Yopla I serve on boards including Aberdeen Foyer, the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and Primary Engineer's advisory board, and I have contributed to the National Cyber Security Centre's CYBERUK. Yopla brings all of it together: self-funded, female-led, sustainability-minded, and built to give organisations the honest picture we always wished our clients had.

  • Previously CEO of West Lothian Chamber of Commerce
  • Contributor to National Cyber Security Centre CYBERUK

Owns delivery end to end. Brings clarity, coordination, and momentum so commitments turn into outcomes without friction.

I studied languages and translation at Heriot-Watt and started out as a freelance translator, before discovering that what you train for is not always where you are best. Twelve thousand words a day about vacuum cleaner bags will teach you that quickly. I moved into project management and ended up running business operations for a translation company, delivering projects in as many as 27 languages for clients from the RBS 6 Nations to Formula One.

In 2017 I joined Charles and Eve in cyber security to lead the finance team, and before long was running a software development team as well. I am CIMA-qualified, fluent in five languages, and happiest where creativity meets logic and complexity is made to behave.

When Charles and Eve asked if I would co-found Yopla, I did not hesitate and have not looked back. I run the systems that keep our delivery precise: the operations, the assurance, and the standard that what we promise is what arrives.

Track record

  • Multilingual ops lead: delivered translation projects for Formula One and RBS 6 Nations
  • CIMA-qualified finance director: steered numbers for a fast-growing technology firm
  • Polyglot project manager: fluent in five languages, fluent in getting things finished

Provides independent oversight. Tests assumptions, sharpens thinking, and keeps decisions grounded in evidence and trust.

I grew up just outside Durham, moved to Saudi Arabia as a teenager, and came back to study Law and Human Resource Management. That led, not entirely according to plan, to project managing international clinical trials for a global pharmaceutical company: trial medication moving across six continents, with data integrity, patient safety and objective parameters that had to hold under real pressure.

From there I ran change management for a communications business with around 3,000 staff, identifying, implementing and measuring changes to policy and practice. Pharma taught me how to deliver. That role taught me something more lasting: however good a decision is, its success is decided by the people who live with it every day. That belief sits underneath everything Yopla does.

In the late 2000s my husband and I took the leap to build our own technology and cyber security firm, in the same years our two daughters arrived. We grew it into one of the most respected outfits in the field, began building software of our own, and sold the business when the time was right. Yopla is what we did next: everything we learned about technology, people and change, aimed at the gap between what organisations believe and what is actually true.

Track record

  • Global pharma project lead: ran multinational clinical trials across six continents
  • Enterprise change director: redesigned policy and practice for a 3,000-seat contact-centre network
  • Serial scale-up builder: co-founded, scaled, and exited a managed technology firm
